About

Handmade jewelry that is funky and feminine, with a bohemian feel and a playful nod to beautiful objects from the past.

I am a jewelry designer and maker who lives in the beautiful woods of northern Vermont with my family, three cats and a dog (the greatest Great Pyrenees in the world). There I use semiprecious stones, Tahitian pearls and various vintage objects to create original jewelry that is both playful and serious, with a wink and a nod to beautiful objects from past times.

I love scouring antique shops and markets to find interesting vintage and antique pieces, such as miniature penknives and perfume vials, which then get transformed into one-of-a-kind necklaces. The history of these tiny knives is fascinating. They were originally worn on a chatelaine, or waist chain (Victorian women's clothing had no pockets, and the chatelaine held knives, scissors, an aide memoire or tiny notebook, perhaps a dance card...) In more recent times, they came into use as advertising gifts that would be presented to customers, imprinted with the business name; also as souvenirs of travel destinations. Customers who purchase one of these necklaces will receive a printed insert with the history of the chatelaine as part of the evolution of women's jewelry.

Wrap bracelets, also featuring semiprecious stones, Tahitian pearls, and earthy natural pyrite rondelles, are another favorite creation, and can be purchased as both double and triple wraps (the triple wrap can also be worn as a necklace).

I’ve always enjoyed playing with color. In the spring and summer, Peruvian opal, iolite and rainbow moonstone will appear, with their translucent tones of aqua, iridescent blue-white, and purply blue. In the winter, my color palette is usually more neutral, with sparkly dark tones and rubies to celebrate the holidays.

I spend a great deal of time choosing the highest quality stones for my pieces. This means that you are getting stones that are clear and sparkly, with beautiful faceting and intense color. Likewise, I use the best quality clasps, crimps and stringing materials (heavier-duty for bracelets, as they seem to be subject to a bit more wear and tear than necklaces). The antique pieces are what they are, of course, but I look for those that are sturdy and in good condition.

I’ve been designing and creating jewelry for nearly two decades, but Etsy is a new and exciting venture for me. Thank you for visiting my shop!
